News from the Garden.

Life is still busy. I got a little down and depressed today after some hectic work for the past few days, and decided to take a break. I’m very sure that I’ve missed something very important in life. Evil-y I sometimes enjoy that hectic part of life. Yeah, sometimes. :)

Anyway, here are some news from the garden.

The bamboo baby (the first one from right) shot up about a month ago and it’s now almost as tall as the original ones!

And another bamboo baby is ready to see the world too! See that small green thing in the middle? :) Apparently I took the wrong shot. This is NOT the bamboo baby. It’s some unknown plant. >.< But, but, another real bamboo baby is really shooting. :D

Mum passed some waste from the kitchen to grandma’s maid about a week ago, and 2 days after burying, some unknown species of plant/vege came out, again! @.@ You probably can’t see them clearly in the photo but they are there. Although mum swore that she took out all the seeds but mum, what are these? >.<

The pumpkin is now growing like nobody’s business. Only one of the pumpkin plants is growing so big. The rest must have been suffering from lack of nutrients because of it. Mum will be giving away one of them to her friend. The rest, I’ll probably need to take them away – killing them in other words. I’m really not good when it comes to this. I’m a weirdo, I know.

This is the official vege bed. All five of the okras are growing very well. Three of the unknown veges (most likely are Pak Choy and Choy Sum) are also doing good. The maid included two papaya trees there. Ya I know my garden is messy. LOL!

We realised that one of the plants that looks like pumpkin isn’t pumpkin after all. Dad said most likely it’s cucumber. So one evening I decided to move it to another side of the garden but with the heavy rain after that, it was so soaked and wet and looks like it’s almost dying. But then again, check out that piece of healthy leaf. It’s just so green that you know it’s not dying yet. This morning I noticed a few other leaves grew out too. I’m glad that it’s such a strong plant. :)

The lavender, on the other hand, still refuse to bloom after so many weeks. It hasn’t really been growing since the day I brought it back. Not sure why. We’ll see.

Both me and darl are starting to see our direction in life and business after the weekend at Pipit’s Wonderful Market. We have talked several times and are all set to work on it, just waiting for the right time for our own. :)

Anyone Wants A Pumpkin?

I mean the plant. Yeah, the pumpkin plant.

These days, miracles are everywhere. About 2-3 weeks ago I found unknown species of plants growing everywhere in the garden, including in my vegetable bed. Dad told me they should be some sort of vege as well. A few days later we realised, those are pumpkins. And where did they come from? The kitchen wastes that I buried randomly in the garden to make compost. @.@

It was mainly because mum included the seeds in the unwanted pumpkin skin from her kitchen. I obviously didn’t realise that they could grow so fast and so easily and just popped everything in the garden. Now I start to wonder if the egg shells we buried will give us chicks… LOL!

Anyway, as at least one of them didn’t make it when I transplanted them, I have counted and we should have a total of 6 healthy pumpkin plants growing in our humbly small garden space. So if you live in Penang and would like to try your hands on some homegrown pumpkins, contact me and I shall transplant the younger seedlings to a pot and pass it to you. The bigger ones most probably already have their roots set so I don’t think it’s good to transplant anymore.

And while we are at miracles, 2 weeks ago when I was in the garden, thinking how my two other containers of compost were, I opened up one of them and got myself into a shocked-mode.

Another unknown plant growing in the container, with no sun and water for over 2 months. Crazy. @.@

We later figured that this is a ginger plant (or whatever you call it), which, obviously came from the kitchen again. Gonna transplant to a bigger pot and let it grow. :)

Constipation and Diarrhea.

Xiao Bi was having diarrhea about a week ago. Her condition didn’t get worse and kinda recovered about 2 days ago so I didn’t bother much. GR is always prone to this kinda digestion problem anyway. :)

But today she wasn’t taking her breakfast. And I noticed that she might be having constipation – what the H is wrong, one moment it’s diarrhea another moment it’s constipation. @.@

I really don’t like it whenever she refuses to finish her food. So I finally decided to prepare her some pumpkin puree, which, according to many dog owners, helps diarrhea and constipation – yeah it works both ways! :)

I cut the pumpkin into small pieces and crushed them in the blender. There were still bigger pieces that no matter how I blended it just won’t go away. @.@

Some left over pumpkin skins…

I will only be feeding her tonight, together with her dinner. Let’s see how it goes. More updates later. :)
