Possibly the Ugliest Seal Ever.

Wah went carving this to stamp on the sealing wax when we sent an insured package recently. Have I mentioned that he is all perfectionist and stuff like that? And the officer at the post office actually said it’s ‘comel’, meaning cute. I’m pretty sure we didn’t do a nice job applying the sealing wax since this is our first time. But as long as it functions properly, we’re good.

If Only...

I have recently gone back to this local post office near my place for all our shipping needs. I used to frequent this post office but there was an officer that I wasn’t really comfortable dealing with. I resolved by going to another one several months ago and I loved the officers there. The only problem is that it’s located at one of the busier areas of town and the place is always packed, with cars.

I went back to this post office several weeks ago, and was surprised to be greeted by new officers. And ever since the day I went back, I’ve been paying attention to the place, more than I should. It’s a two-storey bungalow, on a land big enough with even chickens wandering around looking for food. I mean, chickens. REAL CHICKENS.

Now if only this place can be our studio/workshop, I’ll have the ground floor renovated as our primary working area, with sewing area and banner cutting area. Upstairs, of course, will be rooms and living area, and perhaps a brainstorming room. Oh and did I mention that they have sort of a separate building at the back, which can really turn into a very neat kitchen or cafe, and a storeroom big enough to store all our banners, and perhaps a study room or something? And the yard. Oh my. The dogs will be extremely happy running around with the chickens, and I can probably even start my dream of fostering dogs and cats that are waiting for adoption. Urgh! Imagine how many new friends the dogs will have!

Yeah. If only.

While I keep on dreaming, please drop by here and vote for us. This will really make us one step closer to my dream studio/workshop. :)

Timeless Journey: The New Series.

During the past few days when I’ve decided to put our Etsy shop under vacation mode, and have stopped myself from crazily doing the marketing thingy, I’ve found that little piece of peacefulness in me, which I’ve missed for, really long. I know this is the time that I can talk to myself and let the creativity flows.

And the natural process of this leads me into creating a new line for our shop – yeah I know, even when I am on vacation, I can’t stop creating things. In fact, the best time for me to create things is always when I’m resting. The inspiration always come when I’m resting, thus I’m rather restless… lol.

Anyway, here goes.

Racism? Or…

Living in a multi-racial and multi-cultural country is fun. You get more holidays in general *ahem*, you get to experience different cultural activities, and oh you get the choices of eating different types of food everyday! I really like the whole idea in general. Accepting and tolerating the differences, and cherishing the similarity.

But you know, it’s quite a common scenario that we have a pretty generalised concept and idea on other races. Like many Chinese and Indians (I said many, not all yeah… :P ) like to generalise the Malays as lazy. Like many Malays and Indians like to generalise Chinese as greedy. Like many Chinese and Malays like to generalise Indians as gangster. It’s just like when you are talking about a certain race, the whole generalised concept will just pop up, with the idea of oh-my-race-is-the-best. But is this whole thingy true?

I normally need to go to the post office from time to time, well, of course to post stuffs. I like to go to the one at Tanjung Bungah, mainly because they have their own parking area and it’s really more convenient. Over the past few months that I’ve been there, I noticed that they have only one Chinese lady working at the counter. The rest are all Malays.

During my first few visits, I was attended by the Malay staffs. I must say that they were friendly and helpful. Personally I always got confused with the services available at the post office – you know, like the registered and non-registered, PosLaju, Post Express, registered parcel, bla bla bla. And sometimes you were given stickers to stick on the envelope, while other times you don’t need to, even if you were using the same service. It’s just not consistent in all post offices but the Malay staffs there were very helpful that they either helped me to do it, or they explained clearly to me on what to do. Were they lazy? Nope I don’t think so.

However, during my visit to that post office this morning, I was attended by the Chinese lady. There were many people after the long holiday. A guy, well-dressed, was in front of me, intending to send a registered Air Mail to the U.S.A., just like me. The Chinese lady gave him all the instructions, telling him what to fill up, what to peel and stick at where, and even tested an envelope for him. How caring, I thought. And then it was my turn. So I told her that I would like to send both my mails via registered Air Mail.
