Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog.

I am planning to get myself a book: Marley and Me

The tag line reads Life and love with the world’s worst dog

Marley and Me.

I first knew about this book somewhere in a newspaper or something. The book cover attracted my attention immediately with the cute little puppy and the tag line – because me too, having a world’s worst dog at home. :/

Part of the descriptions about this book reads:

“Marley quickly grew into a barreling, 97-pound steamroller of a Labrador Retriever, a dog like no other. He crashed through screen doors, gouged into drywall, flung drool on guests, stole women’s undergarments, and ate nearly everything he could get his mouth around, including couches and fine jewelry. Obedience expelled his first time through.”

“And yet, his heart was pure. Just as Marley joyfully refused any limits on his behavior, his love and loyalty were boundless, too. He shared the couple’s joy at first pregnancy, and their heartbreak over miscarriage. He was there when babies finally arrived and when the screams of a 17-year-old stabbing victim pierced the night. Marley played a role in shutting down a public beach and managed to land a role in a feature-length movie (though it went straight to video), always winning hearts as he made a mess of things. Through it all, he remained steadfast, a model of devotion, even when his family was at wits’ end. Unconditional love, they would learn, comes in many forms.”

Xiao Bi has been the most rebellious dog I’ve ever met so far. Up to date, she has chewed off at least three leashes that we have bought for her. She prison break-ed from her garden territory for nearly ten times. Yesterday itself, she chewed off the green fencing we had around her newly renovated garden territory and ran out again (I’ll blog about the endless disasters over the weekend once DARL fixes my other blog). While Golden Retrievers were supposed to be friendly, calm, and ready to please their masters owners, Xiao Bi is more willing to please herself at any time. Nothing would stop her from getting what she wants, including the strong leash and the fence.

Yet, I believe there is something in her that’s precious. Just like Marley in the book – being a Labrador Retriever and the world’s worst dog.
