We’re Back!

With tons of work and new ideas! Plus plenty of body-ache! Ouch!

We’ve actually been back since Monday, but have been resting for the first two days (man, age is really catching up!) and following up with some work in between. We hopped into the workstation for a while, did a little something, and couple with some voluntary work and family matters, that’s how 24 hours a day flew away before you realise!

Anyway. I *think* we haven’t officially introduced our pet project yet. Meet huey&wah. It’s a place for our hands (especially mine) to run away from the daily banners and work on something else. We currently have geeky cards and pillow cases. All minimalist. All clean. All original.

The Dogs Have Beds!

There are several reasons why the dogs never had beds. First of all, Xiao Bi isn’t a fan of bed or plushies. She doesn’t even like being on the blanket we prepared for her, except during the occasional storm. Secondly, Coco has the habit of peeing and pooping on the blanket. I don’t know if this is a territorial thing but it’s annoying. I know she loves sleeping on blanket and plushies but unless she learn how to clean up after herself – which doesn’t include eating her own poop, it’s just too much work having to clean up the bedding on an almost daily basis.

Until I came up with a great idea. Well, at least so far I thought so.

As if their allergic-thingy isn’t bad enough, Xiao Bi suddenly caught a limber tail a few days ago. She didn’t have any exercise prior to that, and her bathing session was two days ago, so I’m assuming it was because she was too excited when the monkeys came that afternoon, because there was a papaya just right in their garden territory. She wasn’t in severe pain but was definitely very uncomfortable as she couldn’t sit on the first day. I was so sad seeing her that way so I decided I’m going to make her a bed, which will hopefully help her sleep more comfortably.

Since Coco has that weird habit of peeing and pooping on her bedding, I decided to make the inserts using banner, which, of course, we have plenty. This will make the cleaning part easier. I stuffed it with plenty of old t-shirts and got Wah to sew it up for me. Then I made two covers using leftover canvas, which I believe is hemp. I’ve been making cushion covers using this and it’s unbelievably cooling. It took about 2-3 hours in total, and I’ve got two beds for the dogs.

Do they like it?

As expected, on the first day, Xiao Bi wasn’t interested in her bed at all. I kinda have the feeling that she thinks beds and plushies are for losers. Coco hasn’t peed or pooped on it yet but she tried to eat it. And she also took over Xiao Bi’s bed, which is typical since she always has to own everything, and also because I underestimated her size. LOL.

I’m just going to leave the beds with them and see how it works. I saw Xiao Bi sleeping side-by-side with her bed last night, and I considered that an improvement.

And the Work Continues…

Plenty of wallets in the making. This week is all about stocking up (seriously, what is new?), and picking up some supplies. Might just squeeze in some time for my pet project and some other experiments. And also marshmallow and cookie making with little niece. Oh my. It’s easy to know why I haven’t been resting well when I list everything out.

In the Mood for Itchy Hands.

When I said I was resting most of the time during our break last week, I was partially lying. Well, in a way, yes I was resting more than I usually do, but if you happen to know a hyperactive workaholic like me, you’ll know it’s impossible. Over the one week break, I was constantly looking for new things to do. New DIY ideas. New muffin recipes to test. New homemade kibbles recipe for the dogs. I’ve only got about a week and I’ve got a long to-do list in between my rest time!

And then one day, out of nowhere I found myself having to have a scarf. It’s weird because I don’t normally wear a scarf. But I want one. So I took the opportunity to visit a fabric store when I was having a hair cut last week and bought some of these. After cutting and all, I finally got my hands on creating the patterns on it.

DIY scarf. :D

Zoom in - DIY scarf

I really like it but I can’t say if I like it so much that I’ll use it yet, because really, I don’t normally use a scarf. I don’t even know if this is how a scarf should be, since I have nothing to compare with. LOL. We’ll see. :)

The Petite Ones.

The Petite Ones.So as Wah is away, I’ve started my day taking a lot of rest. It’s been raining for 3 days at our place now, and although the weather is just perfect for sleep in, it’s just getting too cold at times and the flu bug seems to be noticing that as well. So to fight it away, I’m drinking more water and of course, taking even more rest. Sweet. :)

Also managed to slot in some baking time with niece in between. It’s so much fun when someone is tagging along, especially when she was so curious and asking a lot of questions that I don’t exactly know how to answer. Teehee!

In the meantime, some petite sleeve cases for the 11-inch MacBook Air are already hitting our Etsy shop. I’ll be adding more slowly, and of course, even more when we are back from our short break.

Until then, have a great weekend and be safe! :)
