Second attempt. The first was a last-minute supper and this time around, I have a few tomatoes, some meat, and a cube of mozzarella cheese. Tasted awesome. Just the way I like it. :) I have this weird ‘habit’ – or I’m not sure how should I categorise it. I often got into this ‘craving’ mode whereby I just CRAVE for a type of food, and if I don’t have it, I’ll go crazy. I know I sound like a pregnant women – my mother thought I was pregnant when she realised I behave this way too. Anyhow. Last night I was suddenly craving for baked rice with cheese and tomato paste. Mmm… sounds good. It was almost midnight and of course, not only there is no one out there selling this, I didn’t want to go out at that hour just for that funny habit of mine too. So I googled, and realised that, hmm, perhaps I could simplify the already-seemed-easy recipe (which by the way, I’ve only quickly glanced through two recipes) and fix my crave at home. I went down and found some leftover rice. No meat, so I thought I could just fry an egg. No mozzarella cheese, so I thought I could use the cheddar cheese slice for little niece. And no tomatoes! OK never mind, I’ll just use tomato sauce. See when I told you I’ll go crazy if I don’t eat what I was craving for? So I preheated the oven, heated the pan, fried an egg, added the mixed vegetable, stir in some tomato sauce, and added the rice. And then I placed everything in a bowl and topped it up with a piece of cheddar cheese, and placed it in the oven. This is what I’ve got after approximately 7 minutes. I swear it will taste really good if I have a tomato, some meat, and mozzarella cheese. During my little niece’s first birthday a few months ago, many of the family members who were in town were invited. Most of them are from my mother’s family (her brothers, sisters, and kids), except for my grandma (my dad’s mum) from the mainland. Before we started eating, we set up a tripod and had a big, happy family photo. If you ask me, I was more interested in the food at that time. Was so so so so so hungry. >.< Happy Hunting everyone! :) Last night me and darl were just in the mood of eating very hungry, so although the dinner wasn’t very light, we were already planning on what to eat for supper just right after our dinner. He suggested to make use of the beef tenderloin that we bought about 2 weeks ago (frozen, of course), while I suggested to make our own dish with oyster mushroom. Ever since I tasted the very yummy oyster mushroom at Parkroyal Hotel, I just kept thinking about the taste. I was never a mushroom fan, but the freshness and the taste… it was just so right! >.< So at about 9:30pm, we decided to prepare both the dishes to eat along with the movie that we were about to watch. Darl took care of the beef, as usual, and I took care of the oyster mushroom. Stir fried beef with ginger and garlic in soy sauce. Yummy as usual. :) Grey oyster mushroom with garlic oil and oyster sauce. I kinda overcooked the mushroom, hence it was a little bit too soft. :/ Good food, good movie, good companion. :D Yesterday evening when I was on IM chatting with my cousin, Shu-Yin, I’ve received this ‘welcome message’ from her: “Wei faster update your blog, I got nothing to read already.” @.@ Eh miss, I think you have been having way too much time. lol. Anyway, I couldn’t think of much to blog about so I just ignored her. Btw I used to ‘bully’ her when we were kids. LOL. You remember that, missy? Hehe, we really had a lot of fun playing ‘masak-masak’. So to show how much I appreciate my lovely (uerk…) cousin, I’m dedicating this entry to her. Some time last month she wrote an entry on this Precious Taste Restaurant that my brother has been recommending many times. Finally last weekend, when my grandma was here for a short trip, we went there for some precious taste. We were the only customers when we arrived. And then more people came in after us. The waiter and waitress were very friendly and helpful in terms of helping us to make decisions on food. We settled with four main dishes, a soup and two side dishes. The way they served the dishes, though, was not very professional. I was expecting the side dishes to arrive first so we can have some bites, but they served us with one vege and one side dish first. The ‘kailan’ on the right was rather special. There were deep fried ones on top of the ordinary fried ones. ‘Siu Long Pao’. Not the ‘bestest’ taste but above average. At that price (RM8, if I’m not mistaken), I really don’t mind eating more. :D ‘Chi Chai’ soup. Salted fish with pork belly. I’m not a fan of this dish but my parents like it. Mango chicken. I like this! And then the waiter was recommending us some fresh crabs. Being a seafood die-hard lover, of course I said yes yes and yes. :D It was a bit too spicy for me, but nevertheless, it was fresh. My brother and sis-in-law came a bit late, after they’ve closed their shop. My brother ordered another two dishes, prawns and ‘Koo Lou Yok’ (sweet and sour pork), both yummy but I was already too lazy to snap photos. :D I couldn’t snap a nice photo of the restaurant, so I have to ‘steal’ this from Shu-Yin. :) The place is just right opposite the Public Mutual building in Pulau Tikus. Here is a Google Map that I did for the first time, special thanks to my all-time WP ‘sifu’ Satkuru. :D One thing to take note about the place is that, funny-ly, all their dishes come in one size only. Meaning, there is no small, medium, or big to choose from. The price range is around RM8-RM12, quite reasonable for the portion, I’d say. |
