Pet Project: huey&wah @ Etsy

I stumbled upon modernemotive several months ago, and have been reading it since then. I was first attracted by the very clean, and very neat blog appearance, and being someone who always likes to make our blog cleaner, it immediately caught my eyes. I was then being attracted by the author’s series on This Self-Employed Life. A huge part of my working life has been self-employed, and when I first started reading the series, I was in the middle of having a day job and struggling in between it and my so-called ‘free soul’. A lot of things that the author, Adele, mentioned was exactly how I felt.
Some time last week I saw a post on her blog calling for eco-friendly and organic business owners to submit shops for an interview she was going to contribute to an online magazine. As when I submitted ours, it was already too late – damn I know I should check every single blog in the blogroll daily! – but Adele was so kind to offer us the opportunity to be featured in her Green Motive series – ‘a series focused on promoting greener choices both in life and business, as well as showcasing other eco-friendly businesses’.
So here goes. We are on one of our favourite blogs, and are very very very much honoured. :)
There is still a huge pile of banner scraps that we can work on. I wonder how long will it take for us to at least clear half of them – or maybe never, since we are continuously getting more and more banners?
Here is a new project that I’ve been working on for the past few days. Still need a little modification and so. A library mini card, for birthdays, anniversaries, thank yous, or just to say hi. :D

Front part of the banner card. The lines are sewn on so you can write on it just like you are writing on your old school notebooks.

Back of the card.
Just like any other sewing projects, there are always banner scraps scattered around our work space. Most of them are just too small to be sewn into something. I’ve been wondering how can I utilise these scraps – I think I really wonder a lot. So much that my hands and actions are always slower than my mind…
I finally did something to them today. Incorporating some of them into the next project. Quiz of the day: What is the next big day to celebrate? ;)

Part of my brother’s business involves receiving goods in these foam boxes. As we all know, these boxes aren’t recyclable. But with a little hole-poking at the bottom of these boxes, they turn into handy pots for some, if not most of the plants.

We’ve been having our Italian Parsley in the foam box for months. It was about to die when it was planted in an old regular plastic pot, until I moved it into this foam box one day and it started growing like nobody’s business. I think it loves the green move too! ;)
I’ve been bugging Wah about the idea on storage items that we’ve had for quite a while. It’s really a little difficult to develop new ideas when one of us (me!) has a day job and another (him!) has freelance job. But we finally did it today. :D
Here is a sample that we’ve worked out today. An eco-friendly storage bin for CDs, DVDs, books, and other small items that you can think of. Will be bringing some to the Little Penang Street Market tomorrow – only managed to work out a few, and perhaps list on Etsy later next week. I LOVE organisers! :D
