It’s Been So Long!

Gosh! It feels so long since I last properly posted on this blog!

Despite that fact that my iMac came back 3 days ago and I’ve since successfully restored and updated everything, I have been extremely busy preparing some sales event for our little business project. Our first time doing something like this, not sure if it’s going to work. But hey, life is about trial and error, and trial and error, and…… success! lol

Darl had taken leave and went back to his lovely hometown 2 days ago, so left me working like a mad and crazy woman, updating listings, promoting and searching for best advertising slots. I worked straight from early morning till late night, like 1 am for a continuous 2 days and am now pretty exhausted. lol. I really hate reading and checking so many things online at once! >.<

OK back to the updates on my little vege. After struggling to grow and die for days, can you see anything growing? No? Neither can I. @.@

Me and the maid also started another two trays, one for the lettuce and one for the cabbage. It’s been more than a week and can you see anything growing? No? Neither can I. @.@

No hope… @.@

I See Hope!

I woke up with a still-sleepy mind and brain early this morning and started my routine of letting Xiao Bi out in the garden and watering my vegetable pots. Oh btw, the ones I planted end of last year (a couple of weeks ago, to be exact), didn’t work out. It didn’t sprout after 2 weeks and my grandma’s maid accidentally ‘flooded’ it when she was watering other plants. lol. So me and her planted another two batch of seeds that evening itself. One pot with the carrots, another with lettuce.

Anyway, I thought I was still dreaming when I saw this…

Yeap! Three of these little guys sprouted!  I see hope! lol. Given the fact that I haven’t been able to successfully grown anything since the tau-geh (bean sprout) at school, this really made my day. :)

Now the only problem is, both of us (me and the maid) are not sure if we put carrot seeds or lettuce seeds in this pot. Guess it’s just going to be up for another round of surprise! :)

Something New.

For some unknown reasons, I’ve started to do something that I won’t normally do. To be exact, something that I thought I’ll never do in my whole life. I think this kinda thing does happen from time to time on me. Like I never wanted myself to teach or to be a teacher, but at one point of my life, I was actually enjoying teaching the kids very much. The universe does have its own way of bringing unexpected things into one’s life. :)

This time around, I started planting something in the garden. In short, gardening. Yeap. I’ve killed some cactuses and here I am, planting again. :)

At first I got a pack of carrot seeds when Charles was back about a week ago and started my plan to build a no dig garden. Try googling around and you’ll get the idea. It sounds quite simple and I’d like myself to plant some vegetables in Xiao Bi’s garden territory – and of course I’m going to make her NOT chewing up or digging out my vege. I followed the approach from the Dog Whisperer with her and it seems to be working just fine, and she seems to be totally OK with the yet-to-grow carrot tray. :)

And then I’ve got a huge type of water plant kinda thing from the owner of Xiao Bi’s bf. This one is simpler. Just put the whole thing in a huge pot, add soil and fertiliser and just water it everyday. I like the idea. :)

Here is my carrot tray. It should start seedling (I hope I’m using the correct word, I’m not used to gardening, seriously) in 10-20 days. I hope it does, and I’ll be able to move them to the no dig garden.

So all in all, I’ve started something new for 2009. How about you? :)

Happy New Year! :)

Pan-Fried Vege.

With my previous successful pan-frying experience, I was so confident to do it again this evening when darl said that we should just cook our dinner tonight. I defrosted the lamb shoulder that we bought a few days back, and started looking for suitable vege to go with it. And I found tomatoes and carrot.

To be honest, I was kinda lazy to cook the vege. As I wonder how I could make my life easier, I decided to pan-fry them too. :D

I soaked, and washed, and cut them into pieces (for tomatoes) and slices (for carrot) while pan-frying the lamb. Once done, I threw the vege in the pan – OK la I actually turned off the gas and threw in, and then turned it on again. Scared la me! >.<

A few moments later, I’ve got this served.

It was good! :D Smelled good, tasted good too! Like you BBQ-ed them but with the fragrance of lamb.

But the lamb, on the other hand, wasn’t that good today. The slices we bought were just too thick and somewhere in the middle part just wouldn’t get cooked enough. :/ And to save our time, darl bought back the instant mashed potato… Lazy people. :D

P/S: On the side note, the little red *Updated!* feature on my blogroll hasn’t been working for a few days. Not sure why but it’s making my life miserable. Now I realise how much I have been depending on it to check on latest updated blogs. >.<
