Slightly over a month ago, I was blogging about my cousin, Kavern, who was fighting with a rare cancer, Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma, and needed 120k for his medical expenses. Well, I received his thank-you note to those who have helped him from my mum about a month ago but somehow missed forwarding out the email.
So to those who have helped, thank you very much, from Kavern, and here is a note from him. I have tried to forward the note out to some of you, but just in case I missed out anyone.

Apart from that, I have to stop accepting donations for Kavern transferred into my bank account from today onwards. If you are reading this and are planning to donate, please write to me before you do so. The reason why is that, I’ve been receiving money from unknown sources for the past few weeks, and have been trying to trace who it’s from and what it’s for with no results. I can’t be accepting money in this way and I certainly do not want to mess up with my own money too. And of course, I do not want to mis-use anyone’s money. So please, do not transfer any amount of money to me without letting me know beforehand.
Once again, thank you very much for your help.
When everyone is working harder to earn more during this global economic down time, someone has been fighting, just to live.
About a year or two ago, my mum told me about a cousin of mine being diagnosed with a rare cancer, Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma. Well, he is actually the son of my mother’s cousin. Mum updated us with his condition from time to time. Things got worse during the recent few months. The cancer struck back and he lost his right eye during a recent operation.
And that’s not the end of it. To undergo proton therapy as suggested by his doctors, he has to go to either China, Korea, or Japan as these are the only few countries equipped with this medical technology. The total cost of medical expenses goes up to RM120,000.
So the thing is, this is not a small amount of money. He has been on the newspaper appealing to the public for donation. You may read the articles here and here for more info.
There are many ways to help. If you are reading and would like to make a donation, please contact Datuk Michael Chong at 03-21618044, as shown in the above articles for donation. If you would like to write an entry in your blog, please also make sure to direct your readers to Datuk Michael Chong for donation. Please do not use my cousin’s condition to make fraud donation. If you are not sure, feel free to write to me.
Feel free to use the social bookmarking icons below to share this with others, or email this to your friends. Please help to spread this, and help my cousin, Kavern!
Not long ago when I was writing about the inefficient creature at work, my friend, Charles left a comment regarding me slapping him twice in a day. A few friends were kinda curious after reading it. This was actually what happened on that day.
It was some time before Christmas in year 2005. I was requested by the company to get some decor items for Christmas. Not knowing where to go, I dragged along Charles, who was still my colleague back then, to shop with me. We then decided to shop at Prangin Mall. Sometimes they have really cheap stuffs.
It took us a few hours shopping there. When we were done and ready to go, he said something stupid in the car and I raised my hand making action as if I wanted to slap him. OK my experiences with this ‘hand-raising’ movement has been positive. People who had seen this movement from me (eg: my ex-house-mates in K.L, my younger brother) would reasonably and definitely ‘move’ away as my palm goes near their faces. But not for Charles. Either he was too tired or he was dreaming, he didn’t avoid and ‘Phiak!’. There goes the first slap.
The incident happened in the car park of Prangin Mall. I was laughing and laughing and laughing at the poor fella while he was complaining and complaining and complaining, and at the same time, driving out of the car park. When the car was somewhere in Penang Road, I associated a practical joke that I once liked to play with my cousins. I asked him:
‘Eh, do you know that people said if your palm is bigger than your face, the chances of you getting cancer is higher?’
The poor fella surely wasn’t aware that it was a practical joke. Despite the fact that he was driving, he put his palm on his face, and ‘Phiak!’, I pushed his palm towards his face and slapped him again! :D
So there goes the second slap, and I was lucky that I could still stay alive after the incident. :D
