Wah celebrated his birthday today. One year older, one year wiser – I hope. :P
He isn’t really into birthday celebration so we didn’t make anything big. I baked a batch of his favourite blueberry lemon muffins during the day and got some really nice beef to stir-fry for dinner. Little niece insisted that there should be a ceremony so she could sing the birthday song – in fact, we think she is the happiest when someone’s birthday is approaching. She has been worrying that since Wah is so old there could be too many candles for a cake. LOL.
So we had a little ceremony with the muffin and a candle + cake topper instead. The little event planner was happy. :)

So I turned another year older today.
Little niece greeted me with a ‘note paper’ where she has written her birthday wishes for me. She was then fascinated by the idea of giving ‘ang pow’ when she saw my mother doing that, and decided that she’ll give me one too. Thank you, kiddo! :)
P/S: And if you haven’t yet, check out this Facebook Page I created for our fat dog, Xiao Bi. She celebrated with me using her own way too. :)

Some bird babies fell into the yard from their nest this evening and of course, Xiao Bi tried ‘retrieving’ them, probably believing that they were preys. Worrying that she might hurt them unintentionally, I put her on the leash and tied to my waist, so she had to follow me wherever I went. As sweet as this may sound, she was totally upset with the idea. :)
Our path with Xiao Bi wasn’t an easy one. Being a Golden Retriever, she had too much energy in her when since she was a puppy and we were not equipped with the knowledge of exercise, discipline, and affection. And probably because of Gobi, her sister, who died at a very young age, I poured all and only affection on her and of course, she turned into a rebellious one who dragged me into cactus bush and knocked me down when she wanted to do things her way. When we learned about the importance of exercising and disciplining her, we started rehabilitating her right away. She didn’t change in just one day, but has improved tremendously from what she used to be. But there is just one thing that she still couldn’t change. One thing that might just cost her life, that is to run out of the yard whenever she gets a chance.
With all the not-so-pleasant news in the country lately (not to forget this in the newspaper today), I guess all I wanted to say is, I’m not only worrying about the safety of street animals, I’m now also worrying about the safety of Xiao Bi and Coco. It is such a sad case that pet dogs that wander out are normally friendly and trusting with humans, and they might just end up being shot. Having license and tags don’t seem to be of any difference. And if they fight back, they are being labeled as ‘dangerous’, and still being shot.
Just, who doesn’t fight back when you feel your life being threatened? And aren’t they supposed to be given a second chance – whether it’s a chance to be adopted or to be claimed back by owners?
I don’t like this, babe. I’m concerned for your safety. So please, as you turn 4 today, can you not run out of the yard on your own? We’ve been bringing you and Coco out everyday, and I promise we will continue to do so.
Happy Birthday.
Coco turns 2 today. And to celebrate, we did the only thing that she hates the most – BATHING. LOL.
No joke, she hates water so much that even if there is just a bit of water on the floor, she will take the long route to reach her destination. No chance stepping on water at all if she had a choice. If I clean the floor when she’s eating, she’ll change direction so the water won’t reach her. She is just the exact opposite of Xiao Bi when it comes to water.
Anyway, looking back at her one-year-old post, we have definitely walked a long way. Well at least she no longer crawls into the neighbour’s yard (although that’s because we have ‘crawled-proof’ the fence). Though she still occasionally plays with everything handy or not handy (unless she hears COCOOOOOO!!!), eats everything including my solar lamp, and sometimes, her own poo.
But we’re sure that Xiao Bi is loving her more and more, ever since she took responsibility of Xiao Bi’s oral and ear hygiene. So are we – although our oral and ear hygiene are both none of your business – you hear us, Coco? :)
Happy Birthday, little pal! :)

Wah was supposed to cut and taste this Cheesecake Brownies I made for him when he came back on Saturday, but didn’t get around doing it because we had to attend a charity dinner that night, and he was too full to eat another piece of anything. The next morning, everyone else has tasted this rich-chocolaty cake except him because he slept until noon. So the birthday boy was the last one to have a piece of his own cake.
Meh! He is not so much into birthday celebration anyway.
