Death Note.

A few months ago my brother kinda ‘forced’ me into watching a movie that he was watching and was impressed – which is what he normally does. He would talk and talk and talk non-stop beside me about something that he was so into, and that time around it was this movie, Death Note. I wasn’t very interested in it but DARL was. So we watched it, and to my surprise, I kinda like the movie. :D

The story of Death Note is based on a supernatural action-mystery manga, about Light Yagami, a brilliant student, who finds the Death Note – a notebook – dropped by the death god, name Ryuk. Very soon Light discovers that writing any human name in the notebook will have the human dies precisely the way he describes in the notebook.

Light vows himself to use the power of the Death Note to make the world a better place. But soon when criminals begin to die mysteriously around the world, the authorities send the legendary detective ‘L’ to investigate. It doesn’t take long for ‘L’ to suspect Light’s involvement in the mysterious series of murder and this forces Light to reevaluate his initial intention, while trying to cover himself up. And the ‘witty war’ begins…

Me and DARL did have some discussions on the movie after watching it. Personally I wouldn’t want the power to decide who would die and how. I just don’t think I have the right to decide on this. At this stage of my life, I think I would love to have unlimited energy and time to do more things that I wanna do. Greedy me. :D

Anyway, I wasn’t aware that this movie wasn’t shown in some countries until today. To those who haven’t watched, I must say that this is really worth watching. And to those from the U.S., here is a chance to watch DeathNote in theater on either 20 or 21 May! All you need to do is to follow the link and enter your zip code to purchase in advance. Go watch. And I’m sure you’ll look forward to watch the following episodes. ;)

It’s A Mad Mad World.

DARL was off today so we went out a while running some errands in the afternoon. On our way back, we even had McDonald’s for tea break – yeah I like chewing the nuggets. :D

I suggested to watch a movie or something at night. I know that he has been extremely busy with work lately but I really want to watch something funny to wash away my stress. I just needed something that can make me laugh really loud.

So I got him to choose for some DVDs. After a good wait of nearly 30 minutes in the car, he came back with three movies. None of them is a comedy! @.@

Anyway, I ended up settling myself with this 2007 Hong Kong crime film, Mad Detective.

Mad Detective.

Honestly speaking I find the storyline of the movie kinda weak, and at times it’s kinda confusing. But there is a point that I really like about the movie. It’s the idea of the ‘ghost’ in everyone. Imagine how would it be if everyone’s ‘ghost’ can be seen by others. Will we have an honest world because everyone knows there is no point lying? Or will we have an even worse society because everyone is afraid that his/her thought is being read by others, hence creating more lies and excuses?

I also wonder how the ‘ghost’ in me will look like – no I don’t think I’ll be clean and have no ‘ghost’ in me. I think it will look like a witty old lady. Maybe together with a kitty. :D

How do you think the ‘ghost’ in you will look like?

Book of Secrets.

Book of Secrets. With my current hectic schedule, I still managed to squeeze out a little time to watch a movie with DARL – so proud of myself. Hehe.Anyway, I opted to watch National Treasure: Book of Secrets. The only reason I had was, I was under pressure and I wanted to watch a movie with no one dies. :D Since National Treasure in 2004 had no one died in the movie, so I was pretty sure that no one will die in this 2007 sequel. :)

The movie was somehow ‘exciting’ and I found myself grabbing DARL’s hand very often. But I did find it weird when Benjamin Franklin Gates and the others could travel around states and even countries in a rather fast pace – like in one day, and with all the high-tech equipments they needed?! OK I might be wrong but that was the impression I had.

Mitch was a sad case. Well for me it’s kinda hard to believe that he just wanted to leave his name in the history. But then again, the whole story has been about the Gates trying to clean the name of their ancestor. So, yeah, it probably make sense in the movie. :)

I guess it’s quite an entertaining movie after all. At least I don’t feel so stress watching it. :D

The Legend, and The Dog.

I watched ‘I am Legend’ last night. Didn’t really impress me much. Perhaps I was having a high expectation – too many people said it’s good. :)

The only thing I know was, I never like movies with dogs, especially when it’s not a comedy. The dog always dies first. And most of the time it’s because he/she is trying to protect the stupid master, who always happen to be the hero, and never die – which in the case of ‘I am Legend’, Will Smith died too. :)

I had a hard time trying to sleep after watching the movie last night. I kept thinking about the dog, Samantha. Such a pretty German Shepherd.

Yeah I know it’s just a movie. But I don’t like this kinda movie. Stupid human should die first. Create stupid virus and spread all over the world killing everything on earth.

:D
