Who Does The Baby Look Like?

A long-time colleague of mine has recently had his first baby about 3 months ago. He definitely is a proud daddy. He took several weeks off from work right after CNY to spend some quality – and quantity time with his wife and the new born.

I finally saw him again about two days ago when I was in the office. As usual, I asked how is the baby and how was his long holiday. And he showed me some photos of his baby, taken when she was about one month old. I saw the little princess and said:

“Wow I think she looks more like your wife!”

And the proud daddy replied”

“Oh everyone who saw her will either say she looks like me or my wife.”

……

Now this is a tough one. Who else do you actually EXPECT your baby to look like, dude? :P

Hello. Ah Si**?

Mobile phone rings…

Me: Hello?

Man: Hello! Boleh saya cakap dengan Ah Si**?

Me: Wrong number.

Man: Oh Ah Si**! 012… (Me thinking, what the… @.@)

Me: Sir, you’ve got the wrong number.

Man: Oh. sorry…

Me: It’s OK.

Hang up the phone.

(I don’t know why but normally people who dialed the wrong number to my mobile phone will call again to re-confirm that this is the wrong number. So I waited. 5 minutes, it didn’t happen. So I happily moved on with what I was doing. 15 minutes later…)

Mobile phone rings again. With the same number appearing on the caller ID. What the…

Me: Hello.

Lady: Oh! This is not Ah Si**’s phone number ah?

Me: Nope. Wrong number.

Lady: Sorry ya.

Me: It’s OK. Bye bye.

(Maybe I should have just pretended to be Ah Si**… )

The SK-II Baby.

Being a girl, my little niece really has her own sense of ‘beauty’, or her ways of making herself beautiful. Her eyes shine whenever she sees shoes, handbags and accessories. She likes to mimic those models applying lotions – but in her version, she applies baby powder. lol. She likes to watch me blow-drying my hair, while she stands in front of the mirror checking herself out. That’s what you get when you get a baby girl. :D

She has been very much attracted by the TV commercials from those beauty products, and SK-II in particular. Here is her version of applying SK-II, and being pretty. Normally she uses plain water as her SK-II. :D

The First Birthday Party!

Yesterday was our little princess a.k.a my little niece’s 1st birthday. Everyone was so excited about it – well, not her obviously. Apparently she didn’t know what happaned. lol.

Anyway. The preparation started one or two days before the real party. Mum and dad and sis-in-law were so busy preparing the food and so. Only a few family members who live nearby were invited though. More like a small family gathering. :D Mum also picked up my grandma from Butterworth the day before and had her staying at our place for 2 days to join in the fun. :D

All the food was homemade – yeah even the birthday cake! My parents used to make us birthday cakes when we were much younger so now they did it again for the next generation. lol.

The cake making session.

‘Loh Bak’ and sandwiches. Yummy…

The party was scheduled to start at 6pm. As a result, those who came early got tired and then…

SLEPT! LOL.

By 6pm, almost everyone was there, except for a few who were on their way. So we decided to start since dad needed to leave for his badminton session at 8pm – he never misses any!

Checkout the homemade piano-cake, with lots and lots of chocolate chips, Smarties, chocolate bar… YUMMY! And look at all the food! We had spaghetti, fried beehoon, chicken chop, sandwiches, red eggs, jelly, salad, ‘loh bak’, fries, fruits, vege… did I miss out any???

And the princess with all her presents. :D

Happy family, and cake-cutting ceremony.

Big happy family. :D

And then everyone started to eat. We ate for a good 2 hours – well at least I did. Too yummy. :D

When it was finally the present opening time, my little niece got attracted by this walking toy given by my aunt…

… while the rest of the adults got attracted by a nursery rhyme book given by Shu-Yin and Peter, and started their own singing and action session! lol.

Look at them. I’m sure they did enjoy themselves. Shu-Yin even said that she was singing with Min at the bookstore. Sounds a bit embarrassing… >.<

Talking About Lameness.

This is the conversation I’ve had with Charles a.k.a Mr Pandai on IM a few days back:

Charles: Hey! Guess what?

Me: What?

Charles: Guess la…

Me: You gilar ah? Out of so many things in the world how to guess???

Charles: OK hint: I am……

Me: You are stupid. You are idiot. You are bodoh.

Charles: I am in Penang again la! Bodoh!

So as you can see, for some stupid reason (he said he got himself a better offer just right before he started his new job, so he is now waiting to start his another new job in a few days time), Mr Pandai is in town again. Today, he SMS-ed me and drove me out to Island Plaza, where he decided to drive me around Penang island to Teluk Bahang and come back from Bayan Lepas. @.@ OK la it was a nice drive, only that I was way too sleepy to enjoy the whole thing – seriously I didn’t sleep well last night and if there was a bed in front of me I could just sleep all the way to heaven. Next time la Mr Pandai. Plan earlier and I’ll bring my camera and we’ll drag along Ms Blur with us. :D

And then during the drive, somewhere in the middle of nowhere with a long straight road…

Charles: Eh did you realise that we’ve never seen a cow around this area?

Me: Ya lor ya lor. I mean, it’s suburban and there is no cow.

Charles: Maybe one day some aliens came and took away all the cows.

Me: ……

Anyway, thanks for the drive Mr Pandai! :D
