Off to the Beach!

See how one is pulling towards the sea, and another towards the land? :D

It’s been almost a year since we last took the dogs to the beach. For some reason Wah decided to do it today so we got ourselves and the dogs ready late afternoon. It was Coco’s second trip to the beach and she was doing way better than her first trip. Although she was still quite reluctant to get into the water, but she actually went in after numerous invitations from Xiao Bi. Meaning Xiao Bi tried to drag her in by pulling her ears. And this fella actually swam!

And then Xiao Bi started to act TOTALLY like a Golden Retriever by picking up something whenever she returned from the water. Like, you know, retrieving something, including dried leaves and rubbish like cloth. And at one point she actually picked up part of her leash it her mouth when swimming back. :D

It was totally a fun trip. Not only for them, but for us too. Sun, sea, and fresh air. What could be better? :)

See more of their photos at the beach here, including Xiao Bi rolling over everywhere to ease her itchy ear, and Coco squatting just before the water, like she was going to poo.

Best Birthday Celebration.

Wah decided to bring me and the dogs to the beach. I think the last time we went to the beach with Xiao Bi was more than a year ago, because I clearly remember that Coco has never been to the beach before. Turned out the weather was superb, the dogs were super happy – especially Xiao Bi, and I’m feeling great after spending some time walking on the sand! Awesome! :)

Proud Walking Schedule.

As of today, I’m really proud to say that I’ve been able to bring Xiao Bi out for her normally evening, sometimes morning walk for a continuous 2-3 weeks!

I believe I wouldn’t be able to do it for so long, if it wasn’t because of Xiao Bi’s friend, Bobby, and his friendly master. Xiao Bi has never been so happy before and I really can see that she is looking forward everyday for her walking time to have a little play time with Bobby. And really, Bobby’s master has been very supportive and always allow them to play for a really long time. Sometimes they just wrestled on the road for a good 45 minutes to an hour! And that’s the time we had chit chats on their diet, exercise, behaviour, etc.. It’s so fun to have someone accompanying the normally boring walk and have knowledge and info exchange at the same time! :)

Looking at the very steady Bobby always makes me more confident in trainng the forever rebellious Xiao Bi. I’m making her some homemade treats these few days, and I hope that will assist me in my journey to ‘conquer’ her! >.<

Another Trip to The Beach.

Last Saturday must be one of Xiao Bi’s happiest day so far. Firstly, DARL took her out for a walk early in the morning. Secondly, it has been a while since the last time we brought Xiao Bi to the beach. Finally this Saturday DARL was on leave and finally he agreed to bring her to the beach again. :D

We prepared and left for the place at around 4:30PM. Xiao Bi was very clever this time that she hopped into the car on her own. :D

Upon arriving at the beach, we saw a Golden Retriever jogging along the beach with a Japanese gentleman and a few kids. Not sure if it was a he or a she, I think it’s a she, and oh she looks so beautiful. Xiao Bi as usual was too excited to see new friends and DARL certainly had a hard time trying to pull her back. :D

Beach1.

The GR with the Japanese. She had a darker coat compared to Xiao Bi.

We found ourselves a good spot to place our stuffs. DARL then brought Xiao Bi to test the water.

Beach2.

Testing, testing…

No More Next Time for DogsRUs.

DogsRUs.

There is this dog shop – yeah dog shop, not pet shop – along Kelawai Road, which started their business about two years (or more) ago. It looked grand and professional, at least for me.

The first time I went was when me and DARL first dated. We went there just to look around and see if there was any Golden Retriever available. I haven’t had Gobi yet at that time. I still remember there were a lot of customers and a guy took us upstairs to look at their puppies. He even took my contact number and mentioned that he would contact me when they have Golden Retriever puppies. I’ve never received their phone call since then.

The second time I went, I was looking for some sort of ear cleansing thingy for Gobi. All the Chinese staffs – or rather owners/shareholders – were busy, and I was attended by an Indonesian maid. I have no issue with Indonesian maid, but I needed some professional advice from someone who had experience with dogs. None of them attended me. When I was paying at the counter, I asked for their operation hour. The lady wasn’t very friendly and just passed me a business card.

The third time I went, I was with DARL. We were looking for a strong harness we saw on some website for Xiao Bi. We explained to the guy who attended us that Xiao Bi was very strong and the similar harness that they had in the shop won’t work. He showed us an impatience expression and didn’t even bother to talk much. We left and I told DARL that I won’t go back to this shop again.

Today, with Xiao Bi’s prison break, I thought I should get her a durable rubber toy to play with, to distract her from destroying my garden. I went to this shop again, and I saw only a guy (same guy), and an Indonesian maid. When I entered the shop, my mobile phone rang, and I answered the phone. When I was talking on the phone, the guy came to me and asked:

“What are you looking for?”

I showed him that I was on the phone. He showed me his impatience expression (again), and with his arms in front of his chest, he continued watching the football match on the TV.

It was quite a long conversation with my colleague. When I was done, I asked the guy if they have any other Kong Toys, and showed him the one I was holding. He took a glance at the toy, and with his eyes on the TV and arms in front of his chest, he said:

“That’s all we have.”

I didn’t bother much as I have made up my mind to get Xiao Bi a toy. I walked to another side of the aisle and looked around. I then asked if they have this Clicker thingy for dog training. Without even looking at me, and still with his lazy arms in front of his chest, he said:

“No.”

That’s it. I made the sound ‘chk’, threw whatever I had in my hand back on the rack, turned my back, and walked out from the shop. The maid looked at me in shock, and I couldn’t be bothered.

I guess I was just stupid enough to think that some people may learn manners when they have been in the business for two years. No more next time.
