Second attempt. The first was a last-minute supper and this time around, I have a few tomatoes, some meat, and a cube of mozzarella cheese. Tasted awesome. Just the way I like it. :) I have this weird ‘habit’ – or I’m not sure how should I categorise it. I often got into this ‘craving’ mode whereby I just CRAVE for a type of food, and if I don’t have it, I’ll go crazy. I know I sound like a pregnant women – my mother thought I was pregnant when she realised I behave this way too. Anyhow. Last night I was suddenly craving for baked rice with cheese and tomato paste. Mmm… sounds good. It was almost midnight and of course, not only there is no one out there selling this, I didn’t want to go out at that hour just for that funny habit of mine too. So I googled, and realised that, hmm, perhaps I could simplify the already-seemed-easy recipe (which by the way, I’ve only quickly glanced through two recipes) and fix my crave at home. I went down and found some leftover rice. No meat, so I thought I could just fry an egg. No mozzarella cheese, so I thought I could use the cheddar cheese slice for little niece. And no tomatoes! OK never mind, I’ll just use tomato sauce. See when I told you I’ll go crazy if I don’t eat what I was craving for? So I preheated the oven, heated the pan, fried an egg, added the mixed vegetable, stir in some tomato sauce, and added the rice. And then I placed everything in a bowl and topped it up with a piece of cheddar cheese, and placed it in the oven. This is what I’ve got after approximately 7 minutes. I swear it will taste really good if I have a tomato, some meat, and mozzarella cheese. Today I’m going to share about some really good domestic experiences. Almost eight out of ten times when we had to eat out or order take away for dinner, we (or I?) opt to get our food at this hawker centre in Tanjung Tokong, Penang, just right beside Penang Chinese Swimming Club. And almost 9.9 out of ten times when we were there, I had my favourite Tomyam noodles. This week, for two continuous night, I had the exact same dishes. I’m starting to remember the girl who lived in Singapore for a few months and had Singapore fruit rojak for FOUR continuous days – yes that’s me, and I did fall sick after that. The first dish is, of course, my favourite Tomyam noodles. Sour, spicy with lots of big prawns and chicken (I ordered without fish). This is the stall selling the heavenly dish. That’s the stall owner on the right. I heard that her wife, the chef, is from Thailand. And lately I’ve been quite into fried oyster, a typical hawker dish in Penang. The stall selling fried oyster in this hawker centre wasn’t really impressive, but about 1-2 months ago, I *think* they’ve either changed the owner or done something with the existing chef, and I’m loving this mouth-watering dish from them! This is the stall selling my favourite fried oyster. So if anyone of you happen to visit Penang (or if you are in Penang but have never been to this hawker centre), this is how it looks like. It’s just right along the main road of Tanjung Tokong so you are not likely to miss it. The name? Restoran Tanjung Tiga Dua Lapan a.k.a Restaurant Tanjung Three-Two-Eight. Teehee. Last night me and darl were just in the mood of eating very hungry, so although the dinner wasn’t very light, we were already planning on what to eat for supper just right after our dinner. He suggested to make use of the beef tenderloin that we bought about 2 weeks ago (frozen, of course), while I suggested to make our own dish with oyster mushroom. Ever since I tasted the very yummy oyster mushroom at Parkroyal Hotel, I just kept thinking about the taste. I was never a mushroom fan, but the freshness and the taste… it was just so right! >.< So at about 9:30pm, we decided to prepare both the dishes to eat along with the movie that we were about to watch. Darl took care of the beef, as usual, and I took care of the oyster mushroom. Stir fried beef with ginger and garlic in soy sauce. Yummy as usual. :) Grey oyster mushroom with garlic oil and oyster sauce. I kinda overcooked the mushroom, hence it was a little bit too soft. :/ Good food, good movie, good companion. :D |
