Speaking of Coco, I don’t know what is wrong with her but this black fella eats poop. Her own poop, that is. We knew it for long but never could catch her when she did it as she always did it at night when we were asleep. This morning, I saw her eating on something from far. I thought it was some random grass or stones but when I walked closer, EEEWWWWWW it was her own poop!
If I told you it wasn’t disgusting at all, I must be lying. While I immediately stopped her from doing it I couldn’t help to think back during breakfast, and I MUST admit that now I’m really reluctant to let her lick my legs or hands, or anywhere!
Knowing is one thing. Seeing is another. Sigh.
Haha.. Rainbow actually started to eat her poop also just last week!! i know when she was small she used to do that, then it stopped liao. When she was small, i even need to korek the poop out from her mouth! Geli boh?
So anyway… of course, we surely did some googling to see the reason, but all of them doesn’t make sense. Only one might be the reason is Bored. Others are Malnutrition, Hungry, etc.
But so i just started to scold her when she goes near her poo (it’s easier for me to guard her cos she only poo when she is let outside the house). Oh, last time when she was small i put pepper on her shit. hahahaha so that she will be scared of it. or something u know she doesnt like the smell.
Coco eats almost everything, so I’m not sure what smell she doesn’t like… LOL!
I’ve also read that sometimes they wanna ‘destroy’ the smell of the poop, that’s why they eat it. Reason unknown. Probably get scolded before for pooping, or just don’t like the smell. Quite hard for me to manage her since she is outdoor… :(
Boil some STRONG lemongrass water and spray on her poop or anything you don’t want her to touch. It’s a natural dog repellent. I used it to keep my male dogs from peeing on the door.
My problem is I can’t catch her doing that – when pooping or eating the poop, coz it’s normally midnight…
One thing though, she doesn’t do it every time. It’s like she selects only a certain type of poop. They probably taste different. LOL!
