Pet Project: huey&wah @ Etsy

I bought more tools – tools that are not directly related to what we are doing.
Duh. What is wrong with me?

A roller and a wood block, for carving and probably some block printing. The last time I handled these was during my college year. Believe me, I hated print-making at that time. Now what am I doing with these?
I really don’t know. I just feel like handling them and doing something with them. Maybe when Wah is out of town during Chinese New Year. I do realise that whenever he is away I work like there is no tomorrow. LOL!
There is still a huge pile of banner scraps that we can work on. I wonder how long will it take for us to at least clear half of them – or maybe never, since we are continuously getting more and more banners?
Here is a new project that I’ve been working on for the past few days. Still need a little modification and so. A library mini card, for birthdays, anniversaries, thank yous, or just to say hi. :D

Front part of the banner card. The lines are sewn on so you can write on it just like you are writing on your old school notebooks.

Back of the card.
Things started to slow down a little for the last two days. As usual, I get a little worried but I think it’s good for us to rest a bit and catch up with our work. Looking for more tools, especially those that I’ve been wanting to get for very long. Also working on getting more items up, and at the same time outlining and finalising some of our marketing plans for the year.

It’s sad to read the newspaper nowadays. Too many unfortunate, tragedies, etc. And I’m even more sadden by the accusation statements made by some irresponsible people who, I believe they think they are so educated. Blame on this, blame on that, blame on everything, and create all the chaos. These are often the people who have learnt to blame everyone else but themselves when something goes wrong. I mean, come on, grow up – or perhaps you have settled yourself as a moron or coward for the rest of your life?
That being said, I’m glad that there are still rational people out there who dare to stand up for justice.

We’ve decided to donate and sell one of our items at craft hope for Haiti, benefiting Doctors Without Borders. As they have been receiving very good response and have to suspend donations for 2 weeks, we’ll take a while to think of what to donate and will email them within the next few days. I’ve always loved the idea of Doctors Without Borders.
One universe, one love.

And for a little eye candy, we’ve finally made a case for a friend’s hp netbook, with 6-cell battery – arrgghhh, whatever that is, as usual, I’m just not that geeky!

Some time last month when we were at the Little Penang Street Market, we met another Malaysian Etsian. She makes totes and yoga mats in her shop here. When I was browsing her blog I noticed that she makes soap too! How cool is that! I’ve been looking for handmade soaps in Penang for like, very long. Now I did get to know more and more people who are actually doing it locally, but WHY CAN’T I FINISH THOSE COMMERCIAL SOAP BARS that Wah had bought since months ago?!
Anyhow. She was very kind and gave me a sample bar for free! *wink wink* A mung bean soap bar, with all natural ingredients like mung bean, coconut oil, palm oil, and olive oil. Sounds good – and yummy. That’s the best part about handmade soap for me – they always sound so yummy!
It stated on the package that I should only use it after 18 Jan 2010 – which I believe is for the complete curing purpose. So on 19 Jan, I opened it up and almost fell in love immediately with the lather! And you think the shape of the soap bar looks familiar? Well I can tell you, it fits just nicely in your palm and you could just rub and rub and rub – although with the rich lather, you really don’t have to. LOL!

So why is this a green step? Green because all natural ingredients were used in the making of the soap (probably except lye which is a must?). Green because it’s less harmful to the nature. Green because, well, lesser chemicals and additives mean better for the skin. :)
You can find her selling her soaps on Etsy here, or on her blog here.
Bought a HUGE cutting mat a few days ago and I LOVE it!

Got some really pretty-pinkish-girly banners and urm, I’ve never seen so many pinks around me before! One of the MacBook sleeves is up with the pinks!

And in the meantime, the kitchen is still busy. I still haven’t worked out the recipe in an understandable format…
