Certainly I’ve been wanting to have a housemate for Xiao Bi – no this post is not about me having baby. :P But I haven’t really spent the time to find one. I just feel that when the time is right, the right dog will just be there waiting to come home. And I was somehow right… so far. :)
Two days back I was at the regular pet shop buying beef cubes for Xiao Bi. While waiting for the uncle to pack the stuffs – which, normally the aunty is the one doing it – I somehow saw a notice on his counter stating about Golden Retriever pups for sale. I started chit-chatting with the uncle. One thing lead to another, and I was saying that I was kinda interested in getting a medium-sized, short-haired pup, if any is up for adoption. The uncle looked at me and asked if local dog (meaning mongreal) is OK for me. I said, yeah, why not? Dog is dog, anyway.
He then told me that his neighbour just one door away from his shop is having a batch of puppies up for adoption, and mentioned that they probably suit my requirements. He offered to bring me over and have a look. To make the long story short, after checking them out, I went back to get permission from my parents (which they didn’t 100% agree actually), and the next day evening, I’ve got this black little puppy home. :)
The first 2-hour was testing period for Xiao Bi and the pup – we name her Coco, because when we asked my little niece who is this little one, she said ‘gou gou’ (dog in Mandarin). LOL! Xiao Bi was definitely very excited by Coco was kinda scared and reserved. It’s a new environment for her after all. Two hours later, they were already wrestling in the garden like nobody’s business. At night, Xiao Bi gave her favourite spot to Coco, while she slept nearby watching her. :)
The photo is a little blur as it was taken at night. The black little thing at the left bottom corner is Coco.
This was taken this morning. Still wrestling. It might seem that Xiao Bi was trying to chew Coco’s head off. But no. She was rather gentle – in fact very gentle for her standard. They are best pals now. :) And btw, taking photos of Coco is not easy because most of time, the only thing you can see is a whole ball of black!

Coco looks so adorable playing with Xiao Bi! And best friends so quickly!?
mh: Yeap! They play and wrestle together everyday! I think they just clicked! :)
[...] Dear Coco, You Are A Big Girl Now. When we adopted Coco back in June 2009, we wanted to have a companion for Xiao Bi so she wouldn’t be so bored and start messing up the place – yes I’ll admit, that was our primary intention. After having Gobi (Xiao Bi’s sister) and Xiao Bi, I didn’t want to buy another dog and decided that there were so many strays out there waiting to be adopted and I’ll have one of them. The right one. So we met Coco. [...]
