The One Thing That I Really Hate.

As I grow older (yeah I consider myself quite old now), there are less and less things that I’ll label as I really hate. I have started to look at things in different ways and oh well, life is short, why bother? :)

But today I realise there is one thing that I really hate. See these photos.

The owners of these cars were parking along the roadside with yellow line, waiting to pick up their kids from a school. Loving parents, yeah. But irresponsible parents too. The double-laned road had turned into single-laned and some of them who came a bit late even tried to park at the only movable lane left, causing a terrible traffic jam at the particular spot of the road.

I’ve always wondered if this is the school’s problem or the parents’ problem. I tried to recall the time when I was studying at the same school but I don’t remember my parents had ever done that. I always walked to a further location where my parents have space to wait without causing problem for others. I wonder if these kids actually have problem taking care of themselves within that 5-minute walking distance or their parents actually thought they have.

If you ask me, yes I honked at them. And I looked at them through the car mirror to see their response. Ten out of ten of them didn’t think it’s their problem, and continued to wait like nobody’s business.

Now, where are the MPPP officers? Perhaps it’s time to stop checking the parking meter and come write some summons for these people. It’s happening everyday (at least Monday – Friday, plus Saturday when it’s not school holidays) so definitely this is going to help the state government earning extra income.

Creative + Malaysian + Blogger = Award.

Creative Malaysian Blogger Award. Keke. Yeap thanks to Jace, I’ve been awarded! :)

Took me a while to actually do this – I’m sorry Jace, I’m so busy at work that I really believe that I’m slowly loosing control of my life now. Seriously something that I need to rethink and reorganise.

OK back to the award. The rules are:

  1. Put the logo on your blog or post.
  2. List your 5 sources of inspiration.
  3. Nominate 5 other Malaysian blogs which demonstrate some form of creativity.
  4. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
  5. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog, and if possible, make sure they follow these 6 steps too!
  6. Share the love and link to the person from whom you received your award.

OK rule #1 done. Rule #2, my 5 sources of inspiration are:

  • My dog. Definitely my dog, Xiao Bi. She probably never realise that she was born as a Golden Retriever and was supposed to be easy going as one of the best temperament dog. When she was a pup (she is still a pup actually, turning 2 next month), she barked and barked and barked at people or animals who passed by for a continuous 2 hours or more, even though the object was already long gone. She dug big holes in the garden just to see if there was any gold in there, like this:

And the inspiration from her has always been: THERE IS NO RULES TO FOLLOW! :P

  • My family. Sometimes just by listening to their conversations, I could have something in mind that I’d quickly jot down in my journal to refer back later.
  • Books. I don’t read a lot nowadays, although I wish I could. But reading never fail to inspire me.
  • My new garden. It’s amazing to see how things on earth grow, live, and die, back to the earth. It’s even more inspiring to see someone who had killed a cactus before (yeah, that’s me) could grow something.
  • Well I hate to say this, but perhaps the world wide web. There are always so many info available everywhere and arrgggghhhh, sometimes I just can’t stop reading!

OK now the 5 nominees. I’m really not good in nominating people. Let’s see…

  1. Shu-Yin’s Sanctuary – Shu-Yin is my beloved cousin. I like that she is always experimenting new baking recipes and keep posting the photos, which is, quite tempting eh. >.<
  2. Journey so far … – Me and Eileen used to work together. A really creative and my-type of girl. :D
  3. satkuru.com – Me and Sat also knew each other when working. He is not an artist nor a crafter but he has got funny ideas all around. And I like his way of writing his post, makes me laugh. :P
  4. White Petals – Jasmine is the gf of one of my virtual friends. I like the way she plays with her photos in her blog.

I think I’ll have to break the rules this time and stop at 4 nominees. I do like and I read other blogs that I have in my blogroll but I just don’t know who should I be putting on number 5. @.@

Time to get to work so, perhaps will leave comments for them later. :)

Etsy Malaysia Local Team Sale and Wonderful Market.

We’ll be participating in 2 special events over the next two weeks – which reminds me that I haven’t stocked up our inventory, yet. >.<

The first one would be the first ever team sale for Etsy Malaysia Local Team, from 24-26 April 2009. Go to Etsy.com and search for team tag ‘team etsymalaysia’, and a list of our members will pop out. Most of us are participating in this team sale, with different types of promotion in terms of shipping and discount. Hopefully we can help each other in this way. :)

And secondly we’ll be participating in our first ever craft fair at Pipit Wonderful Market! Tell me about it, I’m so excited to meet all the indie artists and crafters whom I’ve been contacting in the virtual world! It’ll be on 3 May 2009, from 11am-8pm, at Berjaya Times Square, KL (level 7, near Theme Park entrance). We haven’t decided yet but most likely most of our items will be on some sort of ‘promotional’ mode so do visit us there – oh and of course if you’d like to meet me and darl in person, you are MOST WELCOME to drop by! :)

P/S: I might bring along some mini muffins too – if I have the time to bake, let’s have a little chat there! :)

On The First Anniversary.

On our first anniversary on Etsy (17 April 2009), we sold a tee to a wonderful customer from Canada. I honestly have to admit that I haven’t been able to work on promoting our shop for the past 2 weeks, not to mention updating the shop. I have been so tied up at work that for the past 2 weeks, my typical day was: woke up at 8:00am, feed the dog and check the garden until 9:00am, check emails until 9:30am, breakfast until 10:15am, work in front of the computer until 12:30pm, lunch, work again until 3-4pm, check out my niece until 4:30pm, take a nap until 5pm, work again until 5:30pm, watch news on TV until 6pm, work in the garden and bring the dog out until 7:30pm, bake muffins and dinner at the same time until 8:30pm, work again until 11:30pm.

This explains why I couldn’t have time for our Etsy shop, which is, really sad.

I had a whole pack of supplies shipped to me about 3 weeks ago and they are still lying on my table. I have all my thoughts and ideas sketched down in my journal and they are still the same, no development.

So it really made my day when I woke up early in the morning and received notification from Etsy on the transaction. I immediately decided to include a little gift to thank her for reminding me that it’s our first anniversary on Etsy and I should really work harder or figure out a way that will work for me.

If you are reading, Kitt, thank you so much! :)

Anyone Wants A Pumpkin?

I mean the plant. Yeah, the pumpkin plant.

These days, miracles are everywhere. About 2-3 weeks ago I found unknown species of plants growing everywhere in the garden, including in my vegetable bed. Dad told me they should be some sort of vege as well. A few days later we realised, those are pumpkins. And where did they come from? The kitchen wastes that I buried randomly in the garden to make compost. @.@

It was mainly because mum included the seeds in the unwanted pumpkin skin from her kitchen. I obviously didn’t realise that they could grow so fast and so easily and just popped everything in the garden. Now I start to wonder if the egg shells we buried will give us chicks… LOL!

Anyway, as at least one of them didn’t make it when I transplanted them, I have counted and we should have a total of 6 healthy pumpkin plants growing in our humbly small garden space. So if you live in Penang and would like to try your hands on some homegrown pumpkins, contact me and I shall transplant the younger seedlings to a pot and pass it to you. The bigger ones most probably already have their roots set so I don’t think it’s good to transplant anymore.

And while we are at miracles, 2 weeks ago when I was in the garden, thinking how my two other containers of compost were, I opened up one of them and got myself into a shocked-mode.

Another unknown plant growing in the container, with no sun and water for over 2 months. Crazy. @.@

We later figured that this is a ginger plant (or whatever you call it), which, obviously came from the kitchen again. Gonna transplant to a bigger pot and let it grow. :)
