My Best Out-of-Kerachut Meal Ever.

So on our way down from the Penang National Park, me and darl started discussions on what and where to eat. At that time we already had an energy bar and 100-plus each. I had no idea on what to eat and darl suddenly came up with the idea of having a buffet lunch at one of the hotels along Batu Feringghi. Buffet is ALWAYS one of my favourites! And with my hungry stomach now, there is no reason to say no! :D

He initially suggested Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa. But as we drove along, we came by Parkroyal and thought, maybe we should try it here. I went down to their restaurant, Tamarind Brasserie, and was told that they were having a conference and we may join in for the buffet at RM50++ per pax. Sounds like ‘tumpang-ing‘? Well, after looking at the dishes they served, we decided to go for it. :)

Darl was complaining about what I got here. For him, buffet should never ever serve rice. But I had my reason for this. Here in this plate we have Japanese Tofu, broccoli, wedges, and a little bit of fried rice.

Now here is the reason I took some rice along. They served beef and squid with sauce, curry chicken, and crackers. I just wanted some rice to go with the sauce. :) The beef was nice, the squid was nice, the curry chicken was also nice, even the crackers were nice!

Smoked salmon and some cold dishes. Both nice!

Now this is the best part. Grilled fish and beef. You get to choose the pieces that you want and pass to the chef, and he’ll grill them up for you. The beef was extremely tender, with a nice aroma that didn’t cover the taste of the beef itself. Both of us took about 20+ pieces in total. :) Of course the fish was nice too. But we, especially darl, is a die-hard beef person. :D

Some of the appetisers. I’m normally not a big fan of appetiser but each and every piece that you can see in the photo tasted really good.

The outdoor Balinese setting of the hotel and the restaurant itself.

By the time we finished our meal, we were already planning to ask for more info on their buffet dinner. Seriously, the food really tasted above average and I really don’t mind paying for a buffet dinner if it cost, say, less than RM100. And it turns out their Seafood buffet dinner on Saturday night cost RM98++, with 20% off if you are using a UOB credit card. :D Since darl was still talking about the grilled beef this morning, I’m pretty sure that we are going back there very soon. :)

The September Beach.

Xiao Bi hasn’t been to the beach for quite a long while. Last week we wanted to bring her but it rained. This week, with darl’s rare 2-day off from work, we brought her to the beach one evening. :)

There wasn’t many people on the beach. Probably because it was a weekday.

Reintroducing to the beach. Testing, testing… :)

She somehow saw a black plastic thingy on the shore and started sniffing/playing/exploring with it.

Then at one point, she just refused to go near the water for no reason…

But this time around, darl got her swimming! :D

While she was busy practicing her skill, a newly-wed (or about to wed) couple was doing some photo shooting on the beach. :D

‘I can swim!’

… and she got tired and was biting darl’s t-shirt. lol.

All wet! :)

A Hike Up!

Caution: This post is going to be quite long with lots of photos! :D

Darl had a rare 2-day off from work this week on Thursday and Friday. We initially had the arrangement of hiking into Pantai Kerachut on Thursday morning but it was raining. :( So we brought Xiao Bi to the beach in the evening instead. It was fun too and Xiao Bi was really swimming this time! But I miss hiking. :(

On Friday morning, we woke up early to find out that the sun was shining. :) Left at around 8 am and arrived at the entrance of Penang National Park about 20 minutes later. This place is so different compared to my last visit about 5-6 years back!

We registered ourselves at the counter and started our journey.

The hanging bridge is still there but it’s so much nicer now!

Rubbish in the river… Well luckily when you hike in, the place is clean.
