Where Good Food Begins.

Ever since I took the step of seriously working from home, I haven’t really been able to get around and taste the new food in town. It was so bad that I was being laughed by my lame friend, Charles. But this time around, I’m pretty sure that I’m among the first fews to taste one of the best-est life in town. So as mentioned, me and DARL were invited over to siTigun at Nagore Place for their official opening yesterday evening, special thanks to the boss and boss-tress. :D

- The boss and boss-tress busying at the counter. Checkout the menu. DARL told me that if I am small enough I could ride the mini bicycle on the rack – it’s fully functional! :D And yeah they were wearing the t-shirts handprinted by us. :D -

We arrived quite early in the evening and some of the family members were already there. Since the day was still kinda early I took the chance to snap a few photos around.

I must mention that most of the interiors were done by the boss and the boss-tress themselves. Yes, themselves. As in they took the tools and drill the holes on the walls. I especially like the cork-board-like store room under the staircase. It’s so original!

If you walk further into the cafe, you’ll find an air weld and a secret little garden. And again, it was all done by themselves!

DARL ordered a cup of cappuccino for himself and according to him, it tasted awesome (btw I’m not a coffee person so no coffee for me). And the best part is, it could be tastier than what you can get from Starbucks anytime but you only have to pay at about half of the price. The secret? It’s their love and passion for coffee. They bought the coffee beans, roasted, milled, and brewed their very own coffee.

- Checkout the coffee miller (top-left) and the really HUGE coffee ‘roaster’. It’s taller than me! :D -

We started eating at about 7 PM. By then I think I was already too excited with everything around as well as the food, that I couldn’t get my hands still when shooting photos. So the next few will be a bit blur. :D

- Top: Croquette stuff with ground beef, Lumpia (Indonesian Spring Roll). Botton (from left to right): Gado-gado (salad with peanut sauce); Rawon (traditional beef soup); Soto (traditional chicken soup). -

DARL first took this plate of yummy-looking food, consists of the Lumpia, Croquette, and croissant with beef. A generous portion of chicken meat is being inserted in the Lumpia. I wasn’t so much into the Croquette and croissant with beef. But DARL like them both. The Croquette was so rich with the taste of the potato!

And then it’s time for this bowl of Rawon for me from heaven. It’s definitely my favourite and I finished about one-and-a-half bowl of it. And I feel like eating it again now! @.@ The small chili wasn’t too spicy for me and it just enhanced the taste nicely. The soup was a bit sour and the beef was superb!

We were then being served with a slice of their homemade Tiramisu cake. It was so yummy and seriously there was rum, liquor, and espresso. Heaven, revisited!

- My coffee-loving colleague who joined us half way, chatting with the boss. The boss shared with us his love and passion on coffee and environment. -

And before we left, we were already planning for our next trip there! :D

Just in case you are not sure of the location, here is a map to the place of good food, and good life. :D

P/S: If I forgot to mention, their slogan/tag line reads: where good life begins. I just love it! :)

jon: A warm welcome to a surprise visitor from the U.S! :) I hope to see you soon in Penang… at siTigun. ;)

  • Deliciously looking meats and delicacies. I wonder what the coffee tastes like. The boss and I used to hang out together drinking black coffee with lots of sugar back in the states. Do they serve Indonesian Kopi Tubruk there ? I know that’s the boss’ favorite.

    to Jon : what’s up Jon ?

  • Huey

Hello Donald! I didn’t notice if there was Indonesian Kopi Tubruk – since I’m not so into coffee. :P I’ll check them out soon. It’s so fun seeing all the friends of the boss here. Oh and of course a warm welcome to you too. :)
