My Dog Doesn’t Bite.

Almost 9 out of 10 people who met Xiao Bi would ask the same question:

“Does she bite?”

Well blame her size. Golden Retrievers are well-known for their friendly nature. Yet she is so big that people would ask this question during their first encounter. But then again, I have to say that, probably it’s also because of her aggressive and easily excited character… :/

An incident happened about two weeks back when a newly-born bird flew into Xiao Bi’s garden territory. I saw it from my room and I was so worried that she is going to kill the poor little fella who had just started her flying lesson. I rushed down and I saw her barking at the poor fella while pushing it. I quickly grabbed her away.

For one moment I really didn’t know what to do. I finally tied her up and went checking the poor fella. To my surprise, Xiao Bi wasn’t struggling much. The poor fella was just sitting on the floor, trying to fly but couldn’t. No blood, so I guess no injuries. I walked to Xiao Bi, thinking of calming her down. When I turned back, the poor fella was gone – or should I say the lucky fella. Apparently Xiao Bi wasn’t biting at her. She was just trying to play with her. :P

So, here goes my answer.

“My Dog Doesn’t Bite.”

My Dog Doesn’t Bite.

Note: Price and details of this exclusively designed door mat will be up soon on our website. Website will be up… soon. Blame DARL. He keep telling me very soon. -.-

Maybankard Visa Debit.

Since I only have a MasterCard, I have decided to apply for a Visa debit card and get it verified by PayPal for my internet transactions. I have submitted my application form for the well-known Public Bank Visa Electron for about a week but have yet to receive any notification from them.

Before applying for PBB Visa Electron, I’ve actually checked out Maybank, but apparently they didn’t have a Visa Debit at that time. I prefer to have it from Maybank as I have account with Maybank, but not PBB. And then I saw their advertisement on the newspaper last Friday – they have just launched Maybankard Visa Debit! And, NO ANNUAL FEE! Argghhhh…

So I told DARL and since he was somewhere around a Maybank branch, he went in straight away and got himself a Visa Debit. Well for existing account holder (current or savings), you actually have to pay RM12 to change your existing Maybankard to the Visa Debit card. And by the way, the Visa Debit is actually linked to the current or savings account you have with them.

He then tried to verify his new Visa Debit with PayPal, but with no luck. Card denied. Tried a few times, still denied. Used the card to do a few purchases and then tried again, still denied.

We then called up Maybank for assistance. I first made the phone call and the lady told me that there should be no problem with internet transaction and with PayPal. DARL tried again and still, denied. He called up Maybank and this time, the customer service rep told him that it could be that their card is still new (?), thus it cannot be verified. ?????. I thought Visa Debit means Visa Debit???

I wrote an email to PayPal and within a few hours, I’ve got a reply (which doesn’t help):

“… Per your concern with which card can be used in PayPal system for
transaction, as long as the card with the Visa or Master logo, and it
can be used for electronic transactions and supports foreign currency
besides MYR, it can be used in PayPal.

However, as far as we know, when our customer adds the credit card or
debit card, and the bank denies our request to verify the card, that
means the card can not be used in PayPal. So, I can not predict whether
your card can be used, I suggest you have a try, OK?…”

Everyone is continuing to throw the ball to everyone… So I guess if you are like me, PBB Visa Electron is still among the best choice in the meantime. :/

Updates (19 March 2008): Maybank called up DARL today and told him that most likely their Visa Debit will only be able to be used with PayPal some time in August.
