Fried Beef.

DARL’ was scheduled to work from 4:30pm onwards today. During lunch hour, I noticed that mum had only prepared vege – mostly vege. Being an omnivore, I asked DARL if he want to fry the beef he bought yesterday, and save some for him to bring to work. He gladly said OK. Yeah! :D

So we started to prepare the necessary ingredients for the dish. Since I am never a good cook, he gave the instructions in the kitchen. :D My tasks were cutting the beef into slices and preparing the garlic and small onions. Here they go.

He then marinated the beef in soy sauce and pepper. I think he might have added something else but I am not so sure. I was busy playing with my little niece. :D

About 20 minutes later, he started heating up the wok. As beef doesn’t require to be cooked for long, It took only about 15 minutes for us to get this…

And this was when DARL said:

“Eh, I forgot to add ginger and corn starch.”

-.-

Nevertheless, it still tasted good. :D

Beauty. :)

Today as DARL was playing with our new camera, he snapped a few photos of Xiao Bi in the garden. I find her in this photo extremely beautiful. :D

Liver Brownies.

With my non-ended Monday Blue, I decided to make Xiao Bi some tasty treats yesterday.

I have been thinking of doing this for a few weeks. I have even prepared the ingredients, some in the freezer, some on the rack. I just didn’t have time (or heart) to get things started. Since I wasn’t feeling so good, I decided to make this happened.

I’ve got this recipe from my dog care bible, Dr. Pitcairn’s Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats. It stated that it’s originally developed by Kathy Gibson-Anklam of Rockwood Hospital for Pets in Merrill, Wisconsin. This brownies have been extremely popular with their clients. *wink wink*

Note from the book: This treat will be very enticing to dogs and cats because of the high liver content. It is, however, very high in Vitamin A, which comes primarily from liver. So use this as an occasional treat; not for daily use

.Ingredients:

6 large eggs

1/3 cup vegetable oil

800 IU Vitamin E1 tablespoon fresh, chopped garlic

2 pounds (about 500gm) raw liver (beef or chicken)

3 cups whole-wheat flour

1 cup corn meal

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup lecithin granules

1/4 cup kelp powder

8 teaspoon Animal Essentials calcium

1 tablespoon brewer’s yeast

1/2 cups water (enough to make a batter)

(I had to skip the Vitamin E and calcium as I didn’t have any in hand. Also, I’ve cut the ingredients to half since I have only Xiao Bi now.)

Beat eggs and oil. Squeeze contents of vitamin E capsules into the mixture and add garlic. Process the liver to a paste in a blender or food processor. Add to the egg mixture.

Add the dry ingredients to the liver mixture, plus enough water to be able to stir well. You want to have a thick batter when you are done.
Liver Brownies2
Spread the batter in a greased 17″ x 11″ pan (whatever the size is la. Just put an aluminum foil on the pan and grease it). Bake at 350F (about 160C) for 35 to 45 minutes until nicely browned and firm to the touch (I baked for 30 minutes, scared it hangus).Liver Brownies3
Cool completely. Cut into bite size pieces. Refrigerate or freeze. Use refrigerated brownies within 4 to 5 days.
Liver Brownies4
See the little holes in front? I poked it with a fork when it was in the oven, to see if it’s done. :D

I gave 4 pieces to Xiao Bi during her tea time treat/break. She allowed me to comb her hair for this treat – FYI, she NEVER let me comb her hair. That explained how tasty this treat is. :D
